Course Description:

The Physical Activity Project is offered through Clemson 4-H. This pilot project is offered for 4-H members ages 10 -17. This statewide project sparks exploration in physical fitness, nutrition, and goal setting. 

The 4-H Healthy Living Physical Activity Project includes 8 content modules covered over 12 weeks. Modules open weekly according to the course schedule. The project includes virtual accountability groups, educational video clips and demonstrations, and an interactive 4-H health journal. Virtual accountability groups are scheduled between the modules, which also allows for time to review content and update the Health Journal and program guide. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to work with the youth to discuss the course content.

Course Topics:

This course includes eight content modules:

  • Benefits of physical activity
  • Introduction to types of physical activity
  • SMART Goals
  • Habit forming and progress tracking
  • Hydration
  • Warm-ups and cool downs
  • Fueling your body before and after physical activity
  • Career exploration

Course Requirements:

To complete the course, participants must watch all instructional videos, attend the scheduled virtual accountability groups, and maintain a Health Journal and program guide.

Technical Requirements:

To participate fully in this course, you will need:

  • An active email address for the individual participating in the course.
  • A desktop computer or laptop (recommended): Canvas is available on mobile devices, but some content may appear differently.
  • Access to a high-speed internet connection.
  • A web browser compatible with Canvas: Chrome and Firefox are recommended.
  • Headphones or speakers (closed captioning also available).
  • Computer skills including Internet browsing, using email, typing, downloading files, and basic troubleshooting.
