Course Description:
In this course, you will learn to identify and distinguish common insects, weeds, and plant diseases in fruit and vegetable crops. As you move through the course, you will view photos and read about the biology of each pest, then practice identifying them through a variety of interactive activities. This course is entirely online and asynchronous. Participants will work through the course at their own pace and will be given 60 days to complete it once registered. This course is for growers, gardeners, consultants, scouts, and agents. There are no prerequisites for taking this course.
Participants who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to earn 4 credits towards their pesticide license.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will gain the knowledge and skills to be able to:
- Identify common insect pests of fruit and vegetable crops (CLO 1)
- Identify common natural enemies of fruit and vegetable insect pests (CLO 2)
- Identify common weeds of fruit and vegetable crops (CLO 3)
- Identify common diseases of fruit and vegetable crops (CLO 4)

Course Requirements:
To successfully complete this course, you are expected to complete the learning activities in all content modules. Learning activities include watching instructional videos, completing module-level knowledge checks, and interacting with course activities. Course learning activities are not graded, and they have been designed to allow you to check your understanding and knowledge as you move through the course.

To participate fully in this course, you will need:
- An active email address for the individual participating in the course.
- A desktop computer or laptop (recommended): Canvas is available on mobile devices, but some content may appear differently.
- Access to a high-speed internet connection.
- A web browser compatible with Canvas: Chrome and Firefox are recommended.
- Headphones or speakers (closed captioning also available).
- Computer skills including Internet browsing, using email, typing, downloading files, and basic troubleshooting.
