Course Description:
This Butterfly Gardening course is designed for adults interested in creating vibrant, sustainable butterfly gardens. Participants will learn how to design and implement their own butterfly-friendly gardens while gaining a deeper appreciation for biodiversity and conservation. Engaging multimedia content, virtual garden planning tools and hands-on activities will ensure a dynamic and enriching learning experience. By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to support native butterfly populations and contribute to local ecoclinal health.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize key factors in selecting and preparing a site for a butterfly garden, including sunlight, soil quality, and habitat needs.
- Identify common butterfly and moth species in South Carolina and understand their roles in the ecosystem.
- Differentiate between nectar plants and host plants and apply this knowledge to select appropriate plants for a butterfly-friendly environment.
Course Topics:
The interactive course covers essential topics: site selection, soil preparation, plant selection, species identification, and long-term garden maintenance.

To participate fully in this course, you will need:
